The Easy Yoke.
November 16, 2007 – 6:47 am[Jesus said,] “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
I paused to think of this verse this morning as I was trying to open my new Shrek the Third DVD. It took me a good five minutes and a knife to get the wrapping off. I was emotionally drained - what with two masters degrees and not able to open a DVD package; am I getting so old that I can’t even figure it out; why are they tourchering me… - I digress. Anyway, I wondered how my spirituality is presented to people around me. Is it unaccessible? Is it so complex that they give up? Is it hard to open? Is it something they fell like they will end up paying a lot for and be disappointed (if they can even get to heart of it)? Or is it something that they see in me that they want and find easily accessible?
