The Core.
November 30, 2007 – 7:39 amWhat is at the core of your life?
For many of us it has become increasing more difficult to strip away the non-essentials because the non-essentials have become essentials. Commitment to my children has become a commitment to gymnastics, soccer, etc. (core value distortion: give my children all the advantages of life.) Commitment to my job has become a primary commitment over my family. (core value distortion: God deserves my all or I work so my family can have all the all the advantages of life.) At many levels, I have bought into the guilt and pace of society. How about you?
Things to do to slowing down to bring the core values into focus:*
- Downsize the calendar and commitments.
- Find slow hobby.
- Sit-down to eat.
- Walk.
- Turn off the television.
Say “no” to the non-essentials, which will bring the core into focus.
Do you have any other ways that might be helpful to add to this list?
