Aid Flows to Myanmar as Death Toll Rises to 22,500
BANGKOK — The death toll from a powerful cyclone that struck Myanmar three days ago rose to 22,500 Tuesday, with more than 40,000 people still missing, the government said, and foreign governments and aid organizations began mobilizing for a major relief operation. read more…
United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is working through partner Church World Service, an agency already registered in Myanmar and able to respond. UMCOR is also exploring additional avenues of response to this disaster. The international community is working to open up relationships so that more assistance can be provided to survivors.
It is amazing how through our local church we can almost instantaneously get aid and relief to victims of disasters anywhere in the world!
