What is my response to grace? - Confirmation Project - Day 4
May 16, 2008 – 6:56 amI had a lot of great conversations with many different people throughout the day and the common theme was faith and the goodness of God. I have been listen the end of the book, “The Reason for God” again and again because it is so good! The conversations and the end of the book really hit home this week. The common theme is that grace is so good! As Christians our actions and our relationships should be based in grace. Humble because Christ died for us (we are all sinners in a broken world) and elated because Christ died for us (God loves each of us so much that God would pay the ultimate price - the death of Jesus - for you and me). This is a very challenging concept because that means that the church (as well as life itself) is full of imperfect people who make mistakes, get angry, lie, cheat, steal, etc. and each one of us are loved as we are. Our response to God’s grace calls us to grow and change, and it usually takes form one of two ways: one of obedience because we are commanded to by God (we do because we are SUPPOSED to) or obedience because God has offered us a better way - the BEST way (we do because we WANT TO). Those imperfect people in church - like me - yearn to not make mistakes, get angry, lie, cheat, steal, etc. and embrace the gift the Jesus offers us, but I have been reminded that a major question that I need to ask myself repeatedly is what my response to grace is and how am I living it out (whether they are SUPPOSED TO’s or WANT TO’s)?
One Response to “What is my response to grace? - Confirmation Project - Day 4”
Grace to me is God saving us and his mercey. God is heeling my foot because he love me and doesn’t like people to be hurt. We do not deserve it but God doesn’t feel that way. I should be good because I want to be good. I should listen to God because he created us and he loves us.
