School of Congregational Development or Leadership Institute
June 3, 2008 – 2:57 pmWell, what do you think I should do?
School of Congregational Development (I’ve been twice already)
Leadership Institute (Never been)
FYI - I am doing the Leadership Summit (WCA) in August and will probably do something at Ocean Grove for some education and renewal (know anyone who would sublet their tent for a couple of weeks)?

I’m for doing what’s new to you. Both are good opportunities. Adam’s operation is good to see as it’s fairly unique. He’s trying to be overtly very Methodist. But, he incorporates a lot of emerging and church growth and missional stuff. The institute is run very very well and you get KC barbeque. If you are going to be there, I’ll connect you with my church planting friend in KC.
So, from this guy who’s done both multiple times… I’d say to to COR.

We would love to have you at the Leadership Institute but also never say anything but great things about the SCD. I have had the opportuity to teach at both, and they are both excellent experiences. I would echo the above comment - that you might want to try something new, though of course SCD is has new speakers every year as well. What I will say is that at Resurrection you get to hear the story of a Church Plant (17 years ago) that effectively navigated through a number of stages of growth. Plus - as the previous poster mentioned - the ribs and brisket!
